2013 Sauvignon Blanc Russian River Valley

Tasting Notes: Natural grape acids highly concentrate the wine’s bright, lush flavors of fragrant meyer lemon, ripe citrus, stone fruits, pineapple and white peach finished with a long, clean balance of fruit and minerals. It truly shows the bold intensity of flavors from the perfectly balanced 2013 vintage.
In The Vineyard: This fruit was grown on Block 10 D-3, a six acre, steeply sloped parcel near the eastern edge of our estate. Soils on this block are of the Spreckels Loam series, very typical of the Russian River Valley and very well drained. These south facing vines are spaced 6’X8’ with unilateral cordons. We prune to 2 bud spurs and 2 canes per bud. Harvest took place on August 24th and 25th.
In The Cellar: We picked the fruit at night to maintain cool temperatures, then hand sorted the berries prior to fermentation using QA23 yeast. After fermentation the wine was lightly racked, blended with 10% Pinot Gris and bottled without oak aging on February 1st. pH is 3.33 and TA is 7.05 g/L. 340 cases were made.
